How VPNs are selected
We include providers that UK readers are likely to consider, whether or not they run an affiliate programme. Mullvad is listed despite paying us nothing.
How VPNs are tested
Every provider goes through the same documented test round on the same hardware and connection. Our full procedure is published on the methodology page.
How scores work
Seven category scores are combined using fixed weights. The weights are identical for every provider and are published in full.
How affiliate relationships work
Commission funds the site. It has no input into scoring or ranking, and reviewers do not see commission rates. Every commercial link is labelled.
How corrections are handled
When we are shown that something is wrong, we correct the underlying data and note the new check date. Significant corrections are described on the affected page.
How often information is checked
- Prices: at least every 14 days
- Server data: at least every 30 days
- Speed tests: at least every 60 days
- Full reviews: at least every 180 days
