How we make money
VPNGuide.co.uk is free to read. We fund our testing through affiliate commission, and we would rather explain that plainly than bury it.
Affiliate commission
When you follow a "View Deal" link and subscribe, the provider may pay us a commission. You pay exactly the same price as you would going direct — the commission comes out of the provider's marketing budget, not your pocket.
What commission does not do
- It does not change a provider's category scores or overall score.
- It does not change the default ranking order, which is score-based.
- It does not stop us listing providers who pay us nothing, or criticising ones who do.
Mullvad currently has no affiliate programme. It still appears in our comparisons and holds one of our highest privacy scores.
How links are labelled
Every commercial button states whether the outbound link is an affiliate link, and all affiliate links carry sponsored link attributes. Affiliate links are managed centrally, so a change is applied everywhere at once.
Sponsored placement
We do not currently sell placement in rankings. If that ever changes, sponsored entries will be visually separated and labelled, and will never be mixed into editorial rankings.
